USA v. Jeffrey Epstein

Federal sex trafficking indictment. Two counts: sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy. Epstein arrested July 6, 2019; found dead August 10, 2019. Grand jury transcripts ordered unsealed under EFTA in December 2025.
USA v. Ghislaine Maxwell

Federal prosecution of Ghislaine Maxwell for conspiracy and sex trafficking of minors. Convicted on 5 of 6 counts December 29, 2021. Sentenced to 20 years. All appeals exhausted — Supreme Court denied certiorari October 6, 2025.
Giuffre v. Maxwell

Defamation lawsuit filed by Jane Doe against Ghislaine Maxwell. Settled in 2017. Massive document unsealing in January 2024 named ~150 individuals. Second Circuit issued significant ruling in July 2025 on judicial document standards.
Non-Prosecution Agreement (NPA)

Controversial 2008 non-prosecution agreement negotiated by U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta. Granted immunity to Epstein and named co-conspirators. Judge Marra ruled prosecutors violated the Crime Victims' Rights Act. Acosta testified before House Oversight in September 2025.
JPMorgan Chase Settlements

Twin lawsuits against JPMorgan Chase for facilitating Epstein's sex trafficking through banking services. $290M victim class action settlement plus $75M USVI settlement. Bank processed over $1 billion for Epstein-related entities.
Deutsche Bank Enforcement & Settlement

First regulatory enforcement action against a bank for Epstein dealings. $150M NYDFS fine for processing millions in suspicious transactions (2013-2018) including payments to alleged co-conspirators and 'Russian models.' Additional $75M victim class action settlement in 2023.
USVI v. Epstein Estate & Victim Compensation
USVI Superior Court · Superior Court, U.S. Virgin Islands
USVI sued the Epstein Estate for using the territory to further trafficking. $117M settlement (cash + island sale proceeds). Separately, the Epstein Victims' Compensation Program paid ~$125M to ~150 survivors. In February 2026, the estate agreed to a $25-35M class action settlement with additional survivors against co-executors.
Jane Doe v. United States (CVRA)

Survivors challenged the secret 2008 NPA under the Crime Victims' Rights Act. Judge Marra ruled prosecutors violated CVRA by concealing the deal from survivors — but found no legal remedy available. The 11th Circuit confirmed CVRA does not authorize standalone enforcement suits. Case exposed a critical gap in victims' rights law.
Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA)

Landmark legislation requiring federal agencies to release Epstein-related records within 30 days. Passed House 427-1, Senate unanimously. Signed November 19, 2025. As of January 2026, ~3.5 million pages released including grand jury transcripts. DOJ possesses 6+ million total; roughly half remain undisclosed.
Survivor Class Action v. Estate Co-Executors

Class action against estate co-executors Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn for aiding and abetting sex trafficking. Settlement of $25-35M announced February 2026 (higher amount if more than 40 eligible class members). Pending judicial approval.
