PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE VANCOUVER-BASED ROMANIAN ACTOR IN NETFLIX’S NEW MARTIAL ARTS CRIME SERIES WU ASSASSINS Vancouver, BC (August 17, 2019) After appearing in more than fifteen American film and TV series in the last 5 years, Raresh DiMofte takes it to the next level with Netflix’s new series Wu Assassins. Wu Assassins, set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, is a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements starring Iko Uwais (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Kai Jin an unassuming chef who becomes the latest in a long line of assassins chosen to keep the musical Wu powers out of the wrong hands. DiMofte plays Grisha Babinov, a Russian mobster running his business as Alec McCullough’s right hand, helped by two Russian henchmen. Wu Assassins is written by John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), who also serves as showrunner and co-executive producer. Other executive producers include Tony Krantz (24), Chad Oakes and Michael Frislev of Nomadic Pictures (Fargo, Hell on Wheels). DiMofte is a professional actor with experience in film, TV & theatre. He holds a BA in Drama from the Faculty of Theatre, Babes-Bolyai University in Romania. He was born in Romania in a family of professional athletes, his father, Costel DiMofte, is a weightlifting coach and international referee. Using his athletic pedigree, DiMofte has practiced sports his entire life and he translates this into his work as an actor. After working successfully in Romania and Bucharest, DiMofte moved to Canada in 2010 to follow his dream of acting in American movies and series. Since then he has been cast in a diverse range of roles in more than fifty productions. He has garnered multiple awards at film festivals around the world in such categories as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for his distinctive performances in Polymorphia (Klaus Flue) and Kingspin (Doru). In 2015 he was nominated for a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor in Sarah Kane’s Blasted. DiMofte can also be seen playing alongside Elijah Wood in critic-favorite Come to Daddy, which is coming to US theatres soon. DiMofte loves giving back to the community and volunteers with Raindance Vancouver.
