From: Richard Kahn Sent: Friday, July 29, 2016 2:34 PM To: Jeffrey Epstein Subject: Fwd: Lumens! Sent from my iPhone Begin forwarded message: From: Al Buonanno Date: July 29, 2016 at 10:21:56 AM EDT To: Richard Kahn Subject: Lumens! Hello Rich, I am so sorry for the delayed response to this. I am very confident we could supply a projector with 7000+ lumens, but lumens are a deceiving number, marketing hype, if you will, a lot like an amplifiers power output in watts. What we really need to know in order for us to be completely thorough is why does Mr. Epstein feel he needs a projector with 7000+ lumens? A projector with that output is many times brighter than he currently has. It is entirely possible that the projector is appropriately rated, but perhaps he needs a screen with a different gain rating, or a method of blocking ambient light. If you or he could provide us with what the chief complaint is about his current projector we could begin to make the appropriate recommendations. By the way, his projector was changed from a Sony to the current Epson not that long ago and the Epson is VERY highly regarded as a great projector. Below are some bullet points that are relative to this request: What is the main reason for the requested brighter projector? Controlling ambient light is a great way to overcome lighting issues. (maybe we install motorized shades) Screen gain is an important consideration for brightness and contrast ratio. (Higher gain screens have lower contrast ratings) A 7000+ Lumen projector will: be very large, require dedicated power, need to be relocated, need new lift mechanism, have loud fans. EFTA_R1_01352242 EFTA02360742 It would be recommended to get a new and larger screen. It is also important to point out that if he is going to consider replacing his projector, he should be aware that he should consider replacing source equipment as well and to make sure every piece of equipment in the chain is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Doing so would provide the capability for 4K video, and not at least reviewing the sources would be short sighted. As you can see, this seemingly simple request raises a lot of questions before we can actually provide a truly well engineered solution. I am thrilled that he has entrusted us with this and I would like to be sure that we address all of his concerns. To do that we would really need to get to the root of his request.
