No one has ever been able to image neurochemicals. They can do tracking of glucose or hemoglobin when they tag it with radioactive stuff or just track basic time of flight (vascular). The neurochemicals exist mostly in synapses and occasionally elsewhere but they are so short acting (their effect is long). We can't even capture neurochemicals in spinal fluid, we have to use metabolites (which tell you very little because they will be metabolized even if they are not used = shelf life).
