Re:
This is always one of my favorite events and the mix of people was
great --
from all different areas of tech. Half had been to a Foo in
the last 7 years,
so they knew the process, making it easier and
helping to integrate others who
were there.
I'm involved enough with
biofeedback based interfaces, that I
spent time with folks on that and
got caught up on what's happening with that
in the gaming space --->
two interesting developments:
a game where the player kills ghosts
using
theta waves; and a military project, Neurosky, where players
train fro
resilience, killing, etc. while managing breath, etc. This
technology is also
used for working with people with PTSD when they
return after combat. I'm
convinced that the next significant and
serious interface advances will be
biofeedback based. More convinced
now, since the military and the games space
often leads the way.
Separately,
signed up for everything -- everything that would
get her
in front of people in this crowd. She did a short
presentation one evening
and, after it, I turned to the person next to
me: "What did you think of that?" The person next to me said,
"Couldn't get
past her affect..." and then imitated the flirty body
moves V. had used.... I
didn't see V. much -- she seems to prefer the
company of men and I knew well
over 100 people at Foo and was just
trying to get to folks I knew, meet the
people they wanted me to meet.
This is an inspired way to do an event, though -- especially if the
mix of
people is thoughtful. People are encouraged to put their
farthest out ideas on
the table, not to do only canned presentations,
to "think" with other smart
folks.
Oh -- and I heard Vicki Gray has made good progress with her annual
conference.
Now, Naomi Judd and many others from the Academy and
beyond are going and
Charles and Nathan seem to fund frequently...
Someone mentioned to me that Vicki refers to me as the "devil
incarnate." Not
sure how I deserve such a special, diabolical label
from Ms. Gray, but there it
is.
And -- someone else told me to do a
search on Loan2Learn and the
Reynolds, which I did. Looks like
they've had a few very tough years (called
on the carpet by the press
for various practices, etc.).
how are you?
xo
I'm heading to a yoga retreat later this week (yes, I will remember
what you
showed me), then to Amsterdam to give a talk (still writing
it).
