Dear Friend of ACFM,
This is a very good moment for the ACFM. We have concluded our agreement with our friends at Scenic Hudson, and
are now located in River Center =-Scenic Hudson's remarkable renovated building on the Beacon waterfron.. The
following is a press release from Scenic Hudson announcing the=arrangement.
The press release also announces the October 16th special free outdoor conc=rt that will celebrate our move into our
first home. You will be receiving another communication about that event in a few days, though if you =isit our

Scenic Hudson's River Center Welcomes
American Center for Folk Music
Oct. 16 concert featuring three music legends to introduce center to area m=sic lovers
Beacon, N.Y.—Scenic Hudson is pleased to announce that the American=Center for Folk Music (ACFM) will be located in
the River Center at Scenic=Hudson's Long Dock Park in Beacon. The River Center is a LEED-cert=fied restored barn, part
of a 15-acre Hudson Riverfront park that once was=a blighted former industrial site. Now the ACFM-a new nonprofit
or=anization—will bring dynamic folk music, performance and education=to this outdoor destination in a vibrant city
easily accessible from the H=dson Valley, New York City and beyond.

Kickoff concert on Oct. 16 will feature legendary performers =AO From the River Center, the ACFM will offer education
events, outdoor concer=s, and informal information and jam sessions. The group is kicking things =ff with a Sunday, Oct.
16, at 4 p.m., stellar outdoor concert featuring th=ee folk music legends—Tom Chapin, John McCutcheon and Joe Louis

River Center will continue to host Scenic Hudson programming and=local uses The ACFM will fully occupy the River
Center's third floor as office=space. The group also will have access to the River Center's first=and second floors, which
will continue to host Scenic Hudson activities as=well as occasional uses by area community groups.
Scenic Hudson Senior Vice President Steve Rosenberg said, "We =99re proud to have created this special place where
people enjoy the inspi=ing beauty that has earned the Hudson River Valley its national reputation= We're extremely
pleased to help sustain the valley's arts=tradition by having the American Center for Folk Music bring top-notch
pro=rams to our River Center. This collaboration will enhance Beacon's=thriving arts community and contribute to all
that Scenic Hudson's=Long Dock Park has to offer."
David A. Ross, president of the ACFM board, noted "The center is gr=teful to Scenic Hudson, and we are thrilled to be
located in this beautifu=ly restored building which has quickly become a landmark on the Beacon wat=rfront. We look
forward to using the River Center as our first headquarter=, and will be holding planning meetings, informational get-
togethers as we=l as informal concerts and jam sessions inside and on the grounds adjacent=to the building."
Music center has clear vision
The ACFM promises to bring strong benefits to Beacon and the Hudson Valley.=The group's mission is to celebrate
America's rich legacy =f folk music and to deepen public understanding of its contribution to Ame=ican culture and
society. The center also seeks to promote today's=vibrant folk music scene while supporting a city noted as a cultural
hub i= the Hudson Valley.
Community resource and economic engine
In highlighting broad community benefits that will come from the addition o= the ACFM to the River Center, Scenic
Hudson cited jobs and economic oppor=unity. The park and River Center—now with the ACFM —will gi=e people one
more reason to come to Beacon and will complement the city =80 s thriving Main Street business district by bringing
more people to s=ops and restaurants there as well as to Dia:Beacon, the world-class art mu=eum presenting the
collection of the Dia Art Foundation. The ACFM is part =f BeaconArts (Beacon Arts Community Association/BACA), a
collaborative of =ultural organizations working together to support Beacon's creativ= community.
