He went back to the OR on Tuesday for the 6th time, and they finally were able to close up his surgical incision, which was an important step as the last 2 times they were only able to partially close due to the intestinal swelling. Today, they removed his nose tube that had been draining fluid from his abdominal cavity for the last 3 weeks. He also had the catheter taken out and was sitting up in the hospital bed for prolonged periods of time. Over the next week, he will start walking around his hospital room and the hallways to help him regain his strength. He has lost about 25 pounds but they are hoping to put him on a liquid diet very soon. We are grateful for his continued progress and are optimistic about his recovery timeline.
