Dear Dr. Krauss,
I'm=a reporter with Science in Washington, D.C.
I'm=in possession of the document with ASU's determination that you =iolated ASU's code of conduct in
grabbing a woman's =reast at a conference in November, 2016 in Australia. I have also =nterviewed a witness to this
incident, Melanie Thomson, at some length =nd will be calling ASU momentarily to ask about the action it is taking =s a
result of these findings.
I am very much hoping to get your =omment for my article which will post as soon as this evening eastern =ime.
The =uestions I would like to ask are:
What is your response to this finding? =s it fair? Is it true? Why/Why not?
What is right or wrong in the process =f this second investigation of you by ASU?
Has ASU =aken any official actions against you in recent days, e.g. to terminate =our employment, end your
administrative leave, require sexual =arassment training or anything else that one would typically expect in =his kind of
situation?
Melanie Thomson who says she witnessed the breast-grabbing =ncident in November 2016 is asking for a public
apology from you and =hat you be required to go to sensitivity training/counselling. How do =ou respond?
What do you want to add that is not in your 9-page statement =osted after the BuzzFeed article was published
in March?

What else =o you want me to know?
I'm available by email, or at both numbers =elow. I would welcome the chance to speak with you. I will =e
available until 6 pm Eastern time today.
Sincerely,

Dear Dr. Krauss,
I'm=working on deadline on a brief (150-word) item for our next print =ssue. It will note ASU's placing you on
paid =dministrative leave earlier this week, and your resignation from the =ulletin of Atomic Scientists' board.
I would =ery much like to quote your reaction to ASU's action, and if =ou would send that by email or give me a
call in that regard I would be =rateful.
I would also appreciate:
1.
A copy of your =esignation letter to the Bulletin's Board
2.
A copy =irectly from you of your statement responding to the BuzzFeed article, =nd your confirmation of
what date that statement was released.
If you =an get back to me today, I would be grateful. I apologize for the short =otice. If that's not possible, can
you respond over the =eekend or at latest by 10 am Eastern time on Monday?
Thanks =or considering these requests.
Sincerely,
Meredith
