Mike is here and helping=me understand what this is. This is the seawater intake filter for the two=chillers that are part of the library a/c system. It filters the seawater =or the heat exchange that allows for cooling in the library a/c system. Al= that does is circulate around the compressors and pulls away any heat. In=other words, that is seawater coming in, spinning in one circle, and going=right back out. We have currently on order and are expecting within the ne=t two weeks, a stainless steel, three-times-larger-capacity filter cartrid=e that will replace that unit. As it stands now, that unit is cleaned twic= a week and because it is plastic, we can't use any strong cleaning ag=nts that will kill the algae that comes in from the sea. We will be able t= do this with the new stainless steel unit.
