I showed the contract to my fiancé Betsy=Bigbee (you met her at your place) who isn't a lawyer but has 10 years experience in contract law for some comp=nies and real estate work. When her name appeared on the emails, they went ballistic and said she had no right to be involved in any w=y. We pointed out to them that their own contract said CCS could hire and =mploy anyone they wanted. They then were extremely, disgustingly=C2 rude to her. I said we would not sign, and they needed to apolo=ize. EFTA_R1_01897773 EFTA02653815 They didn't, their deadline passed, =nd they wrote to all our speakers and registrants with their own=TSC conference (Technology, Science and Consciousness) logo, already =n hand, inviting them and asking for credit card and bank accoun= information in an open email. They carefully avoided offering support for tr=vel and lodging as we had promised our speakers. When we said we'd move to another venue in Sha=ghai, they said our permit would be blocked by their government connections. The Woodenfish conference was something Gino tried to t=g onto our conference which would have been OK except they advertised all =ur speakers without asking them, or us (who would have paid their exp=nses). So we decided to get out of town and regroup in San Die=o, fortuitously where the Penrose Institute will be formed. Roger had neve= been to China and was looking forward to it. We didn't do this t= facilitate the Institute, but it worked out well to have such a fallback. See attached. Gino denies any knowledge but he's been involv=d the whole time in some way. He's pissed at me cause I woul=n't let him give a plenary talk, but lye heard him speak many tim=s and he's terrible. When we were supposedly organizing the confe=ence last December he only wanted to talk about his ancillary project=, not the conference itself, and walked out of our meetings=C2 several times. Basically, they tried to pull a hostile =akeover. Or else were just completely stupid and misguided. Or both. Ask J=mes Tagg his opinion. Most of the key speakers are coming to San Diego a=d there are a lot of great speakers available there. We're finalizing =n a site, and have several hotels available.
