Thanks so much for your help earlier this week getting VLC onto a CD for Maxwell to be able to review some video footage at MDC. Unfortunately, we've hit another road block in converting several other types of files (listed below) to formats she can review on MDC's (very limited) computers. I'm unable to open these files on my computer, so I'm not sure how to get them to Maxwell to review. I'm guessing some of these file types don't actually contain any reviewable material and were added during the discovery process, but I was hoping to hear your thoughts on how we could get these files into a format Maxwell can easily review at MDC. She is currently in MDC Brooklyn and apparently their computers do not have the capability to view Microsoft excel files. Would converting them to .csv work? Is the issue that they are using a Mac? xls files are Microsoft Excel files, for which they would need to purchase a licensed version of the software; even if we could send it to them it would be illegal. txt files are as basic as they come, viewable in NotePad or WordPad, both built into the Windows operating system. I am not familiar with who "Maxwell" is; but unless they have no access to the internet: eml email files can be opened in Thunderbird, which is a free software downloadable directly over the internet at: www.thunderbird.net Depending on which audio/video files they need to view, there are hundreds of free viewers also available on the internet. To the best of our knowledge those file types are: .xls, .eml, .txt, and any audio/video files. Is it possible to load the necessary software to view these kinds of files onto a drive along with the materials?
