We spoke with attorneys at WilmerHale who represent J.P. Morgan in connection with in the Epstein case (and their own internal investigation into the matter). They wanted us to know that they've learned today that Barclays is planning to make a public statement tomorrow noting that les Staley is "under investigation." The attorney we spoke with did not have information about what the substance of the statement would be beyond that — we don't know, for example, whether the statement would say it is an investigation by financial regulators, or a law enforcement matter, or whether it would be vague. We also don't know whether the statement would reference that the investigation is Epstein-related. We haven't dealt with Barclays in this case, so we don't have a way of getting more information beyond that. Since you've been dealing with the FCA on this, we just wanted to give you a heads up.
