Fraudulent correspondence to BOP inmates may arrive from the "Las Vegas Defense Group". Although the Las Vegas Defense Group is a legitimate legal organization, recovered letters with their letterhead were found not to have actually emanated from them. LAS VEGAS DEFENSE GROUP UNCLASSIFIED/LIMITEDOFFICIALUSEONLY/LAWENFORCEMENTSENSITIVE This document is marked Unclassified/Limited Official Use Only/Law Enforcement Sensitive and may be disseminated, with proper attribution, to active Law Enforcement, DOD, or U.S. Intelligence Agencies. This document, or any segment/attachment thereof, may not be released without the approval of the Bureau of Prisons to any media sources, any non-law enforcement entity, the general public or those without a "need to know." It contains information that may be exempt from public release under the provisions of the Privacy Act (5 U.S.0 552). EFTA00142578 ACTION REQUESTED: Institutional staff should remain observant while screening inmate mail and during legal visits. It is recommended any mail or documentation discovered from the "Las Vegas Defense Group" be reported to their respective SIS Departments. Institutional SIS Departments should thoroughly the Las Vegas Defense Group and verify any correspondence. Questions or concerns regarding this information should be directed to the Central Office Intelligence Section at BOP-CPD/SIS@bop.gov.
