The Supreme Court has cited it. • Goodman has done several papers on how victims, including CSA, express emotions when forensically interviewed. Prototyped expectation = victims cry, look distressed. Some victims look very neutral, some do not. Real victims do not necessarily show the emotion • "Adolescent bump" is more in the autobiographical memory literature rather than cognitive development literature generally o Autobiographical memory —remembering events in your life o Eyewitness memory is sometimes considered category of autobiographical memory o Adolescent bump is often tested primarily in older adults (e.g. 45+), but can still get some of it earlier • Has not personally studied memory related to media reports but has read literature about it • Can create a little false memory with evidence a person's mom said something happened and a photoshopped picture • Loftus has a study involving a training camp in Washington State run by a psychiatrist/psychologists experimenting with water boarding Loftus set up situations where they interrogated a soldier with a bright light shining at them/people shout questions. Later suggest a different person did the interrogation. Then people have errors in a photo identification task. • Goodman is currently aware of one paper by Loftus re: CSA • Much of Loftus's claims are indirect, not a direct statement about the content. Too high a level of generality • Goodman thinks false memories of CSA are not prevalent. Science has not proven that you can generate false memories of CSA at all.
