This is an FYI email regarding potential press coverage. All of the Epstein civil suits have been settled and the cases are supposed to be closed, but this came to me through CM/ECF today. It is a motion by Epstein to keep one of the plaintiff's lawyers (Brad Edwards) from disclosing documents he received through the discovery process. The specific discovery that they are trying to keep confidential is the correspondence between Epstein's attorneys and the U.S. Attorney's Office related to the negotiation of the Non-Prosecution Agreement. According to the pleading and attachments, Edwards plans to use the documents: (I) to rejuvenate the victim's rights suit that he filed against our Office a few years ago; (2) to

The specific discovery that they are trying to keep confidential is the correspondence between Epstein's attorneys and the U.S. Attorney's Office related to the negotiation of the Non-Prosecution Agreement. According to the pleading and attachments, Edwards plans to use the documents: (I) to rejuvenate the victim's rights suit that he filed against our Office a few years ago; (2) to file some sort of internal Justice Department complaint regarding a violation of the victims' rights; (3) to lobby for changes to the victims' rights laws; and (4) to defend against the lawsuit that Epstein filed against Edwards himself (Edwards formerly worked for the Rothstein firm, and Rothstein allegedly used the Epstein lawsuits as a lure for his Ponzi scheme investors). Lilly Ann Sanchez, who has not been involved in the civil defense of Epstein, has suddenly reappeared and her firm filed this motion. Some of the key correspondence on these issues, some of which I have never been privy to, were authored by Ms. Sanchez. While Epstein's other civil lawyers showed me some of the correspondence that they were ordered to produce, I have never been shown any of the correspondence between Ms. Sanchez and Mr. Menchel and/or Mr. Acosta from the period when the original agreement terms were reached. I was told that correspondence was produced that was not shown to me, hut I do not know what it was. I anticipate that there will be more press coverage, and. perhaps there will be something more on the civil suit against our office. Assistant U.S. Attorney 500 S.
