April 28, 2006 Co( ) PRINT TH I S Already facing eight felony charges of sexual activity with a teenager, former Summit Christian Schoc teacher Chad Stoffel has been arrested on two additional charges stemming from alleged sexual encounters with a second boy. Stoffel. of Palm Springs. taught music and math at the school in suburban West Palm Beach for about 5 1/2 years before resigning in December. He turned himself in at the jail Wednesday night on the latest charges. Bail was set at $5,000, but Stoffel was still in jail Thursday afternoon. Stoffel. who turns 30 next week, initially was arrested March 4 and charged with four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and four counts of battery on a child. Those charges were in connection with alleged sexual acts with a 16- year-old student at Wellington Christian School last fall. He was free on 525.000 bond on those charges His arrest Wednesday on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd or lascivious battery were for alleged incidents between March 2003 and April 2004 with one of his students at Summit Christian School. "It's nothing that we didn't expect to happen." said Stoffel's attorney. Jeffrey Welt. Stoffel came to the attention of the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office when a counselor at a religious retreat in Memphis called and said Stoffel had admitted to molesting boys in South Florida. Detective Robert Falbe interviewed Stoffel in February. He said in an affidavit that Stoffel The detective said he also obtained a tape of Stoffel admitting the molestations in a call to "He's confessed several times," Falbe said Thursday. The alleged victim in the latest charges was 14 or 15 years old at the time of the first sexual incident with Stoffel, according to Falbe's affidavit in support of his arrest. Stoffel said he developed a close friendship with the boy and his family. even staying at their home sometimes. On 15 to 20 occasions. That information was forwarded to the Pembroke Pines Police Department. Both of those alleged victims "refused to cooperate, so we do not have an active investigation," department spokesman David Golt said.
