Gino Brett Johnson is co-founder of the Altru Institute, a New York based think tank that fosters collaboration among organizations addressing global humanitarian challenges. It was founded in Klosters, Switzerland where its winter meeting is held each January concurrent to the World Economic Forum in Davos/KloSterS. He also is Founder and CEO of OneMedMarket, a New York based research and media company that provides a platform for the promising growth companies health care and life sciences. The company is best known for producing the OneMedForum, the first satellite conference occurring during JP Morgan annual healthcare week in San Francisco. OneMedForum has showcased over 500 emerging growth companies since its launch in 2007. Its newsletter, the OneMedSentinel has been in circulation since that time and anchors a global database of companies and investors. In 2010 he launched the first China focused Forum adjacent to the OneMedForum and in 2014 he founded China BioVentures to bring advanced healthcare and medical technologies to China. Brett's background as an entrepreneur includes founding the Minnesota Collaborative, a regional network that assists emerging companies and for over 25 years annually hosts one of the country's largest venture capital conferences, where presenting companies have raised in excess of $2 billion since 1994. He was founder and editor-in-chief of Minnesota Ventures magazine. He was also founder and publisher of Law & Politics magazine, now a Thomson Reuters publication called SuperLawyers. His healthcare experience began in pharmacy, where he worked with the National Community Pharmacists Association NCPA and founded Cornerdrugstore.com. There, as CEO, he built an online network of almost 2,000 local drug stores throughout the U.S. His non-profit background includes founding the Environmental Initiative in 1990 to address regional environmental issues by bringing together environmental groups, industry and government. The organization has become a model for other regional environmental initiatives. In 2014 he founded Main Street Policy a think tank concentrating on innovative approaches to improve the performance of the US Congress. He received his degree in economics from Harvard University.
