Items Boscoe didn't mention before the Barge went down... -Fabrication of Splash guards for gate: Because it doesn't have a splash guard everything gets wet on the barge during transport. pies 1-8 -Need to install 6 new Zincs underneath Big N: Existing Zincs are bad and worn out which is bad because it protects the engines and all components. see pies 9-14 -Power wash inside & Paint: Need sandblasting and paint job in the inside as well. see pics 21-28 -Seals worn out in steering shaft and Engine hatch: The Steering shaft seals are worn out. see pies (15-18) the seals and screws for the Engine hatch weren't put back together properly so water was going into the engine room. see pics 24-25 -Repair cracks on barge gate and barge: The gate is cracking off from the barge. see pies 29-30 Note: Awaiting quote from Island Rigging and Hydraulics for the leaking Hydraulic filters in the engine room EFTA01036029 Please advise, Ann R. Sincerely, Debra Lowry ubbase D dock EFTA01036030 Forwarded message From: Date: Thu, Aug 31, 2017 at 9:27 AM Sub'ect: "Bi N" Findings To: Cc: Eugene Kral < , Debra cr Good Morning Anna, I. We spoke to Bosco and he expressed his concern about the amount of water that was getting through the openings in the ramp. The water is getting into the equipment that is being transported. We have created a design that will significantly reduce any water getting through these openings from where the ramp meets the bow of the vessel. If you are interested in a quotation, I can issue one for the labor and materials that would encompass the design that we have created. 2. The engine room has a lot of hydraulic oil leaking from the filters and oil is throughout the engine room. This same issue was discussed three years ago, however, at that time, the powers at be chose to forgo this repair. Island Rigging and Hydraulics inspected the system and have designed a solution to correct this issue. The engine room needs to be cleaned and degreased. We can also issue a quotation on this if you are interested. 3. A lot of the paint in the loading area (i.e. inners walls and deck and the lower deck of the cabin house) is flaking off and needs to be sandblasted, primed and painted. This will improve the overall aesthetics of the vessel. Let us know if you would like a quotation for this work. 4. The port hatch cover is not secured and is leaking water onto the engine and into the engine room. We were informed that this hatch was removed to facilitate the repair to the port engine and was not properly reinstalled. Much of the hardware is also missing, which is allowing the water to leak into the engine room. 5. The zincs are gone on the bottom and some of the existing brackets that hold the zincs need to be replaced. I can either send you photos of the above, but we recommend coming down to the yard in person to review each of these points. We are available to go over these areas of concerns later this afternoon or tomorrow morning. We look forward to workin with you, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
