Dear Mr. Epstein:
I just joined the Council on Foreign Relations as its new Vice President for Development, and I
wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. As a member of the Chairman's Circle of the
Harold Pratt Associates, you clearly understand the importance of investment in the Council.
Along with Richard Haass, it will be my privilege to work with you to help further the Council's
goals and make it even more of a force in the policy debate in this country and beyond.
I have more than 20 years experience in the non-profit sector, working in organizations ranging
from colleges and universities to museums to think tanks ...and no where have I have found a,
more stimulating and satisfying work environment than the policy world. At this moment in our
nation's history, when foreign relations issues are at the forefront of our national debate, I am
particularly excited about joining the Council's management team. Betsy Gude has also joined
the staff as Development Manager, and we both are benefiting from the wisdom and experience
of Jeff Reinke, Director of Member Relations (NY) and Special Projects, and Betty Kurdys,
Director of Annual and Planned Giving, who continue in their important roles on the
development team.
I am dividing my time between New York and Washington, and I hope to have the opporhuilly
