Re:
No problem- we're pulling everything t=gether to ship and all looks good. We sending some additional items C=ris asked
for as well.
The walk last week went o.k=- but I was a little dismayed at the amount of maintenance that needs to be=done
(spraying, weeding, removal of dead plants like the sea grape that wer= transplanted, etc.). Chris stated that he's
ordered a new sprayer, s= that should help. But it appears to me that he's short on manpower. &=bsp; When the guys
are planting, no one is available to continue on with rou=ine maintenance, and it brings down the overall look and feel
of the site. &=bsp;Perhaps you could consider bringing in a few guys part time occasionall= to keep augment the crews
while the installations going on, provided that C=ris and Peter can adequately manage them.
As for o=r material, I'm happy with what I saw except for the grasses and the Areca p=lms. I counted a little over 100
grasses that don't appear to be comi=g back, and the Areca palms are already getting windburn. A big push t= get the
"basket" windbreak in and the bowl planted needs to happen as quic=ly as possible.
I'd also recommend mulching the pl=nted beds and treating with a pre-emergent herbicide like Snapshot to suppr=ss the
weed growth, and help the plants retain moisture.
I would recommend seeding the cleared areas as quickly as possible si=ce we're getting rain. I would suggest ordering
fresh seed (hulled Be=muda), as I couldn't find a date stamp on the seed bags in storage. 1= someone has records as to
when it was purchased they need to let Chris kno=. Seed doesn't generally remain viable for long down here in the heat.
&nbs=;Also, I didn't see any paper pulp that's used in the hydro seed slurry, so=l'd check on that as well. You have
plenty of fertilizer that's the r=ght N-P-K formulation for seeding, but still need something better for bloo=ing for
boosting color on your blooming plants. I'll send Chris a few=bags from our store, but perhaps he can order in a pallet in
bulk for futur= use.
Other than that, I didn't get the opportunit= to inspect the irrigation system again, so that still remains a big concer= to
me, especially considering the amount of money you're investing in plan=s.
Let me know if you have any questions or concer=s.
Regards,
Kenneth Holmes
