Sort of related, but not really... I was talking to Lord Martin Rees and he said that he thought that we would be moving to space and that in space, we would be modifying our genes to create versions of ourselves that were more robust in the environments that we find in space. It's no longer traditional evolution, but assuming that competition continues... I guess there will be exploits where new life forms are created that nudge the environment to be favorable to them over others.
