The Death at MCC: Epstein's Final Days

by stonesalltheway1·21d ago·8 pins

What Happened at the Metropolitan Correctional Center?

On August 10, 2019, Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. The official ruling was suicide by hanging. The circumstances surrounding his death have been the subject of intense scrutiny and widespread skepticism.

The Timeline

  • July 6, 2019 — Epstein arrested at Teterboro Airport on federal sex trafficking charges.
  • July 23 — Found semi-conscious in his cell with marks on his neck. Cellmate Nicholas Tartaglione (a former police officer facing murder charges) was moved out.
  • July 23-Aug 9 — Placed on suicide watch, then removed from suicide watch after just 6 days despite psychiatric assessment.
  • August 9 — Guards failed to check on Epstein for approximately 8 hours. Both guards assigned to his unit fell asleep and later admitted to falsifying log records.
  • August 10, 6:30 AM — Epstein found unresponsive in his cell.

The Irregularities

  • Camera malfunction: Surveillance cameras outside Epstein's cell "malfunctioned" during the critical overnight period. Footage was either corrupted or missing.
  • Guard negligence: The two guards assigned to Epstein's unit, Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, were working extreme overtime shifts. They were charged with conspiracy and filing false records, then offered deferred prosecution agreements.
  • Broken hyoid bone: Epstein's hyoid bone was fractured — more common in homicidal strangulation than suicide by hanging, according to forensic experts consulted by the Epstein family.
  • Removal from suicide watch: Despite a recent suicide attempt, Epstein was taken off watch after just 6 days, in an apparent deviation from standard protocol.

The Investigation

The DOJ Inspector General investigated and found "serious" failures but no evidence of foul play. Attorney General William Barr initially expressed skepticism, saying he'd seen the camera footage and was "satisfied" it was suicide, though he later acknowledged "serious irregularities."

Another interesting analysis by the "Dr. G Explains" YouTube channel that examined the state of Epstein's cell at the time of his death. Dr. G refers to various DOJ released files to argue that:

  • Epstein was probably not hanging as officially described
  • Key witness accounts were confused or inaccurate
  • The medical examiner relied on incomplete or wrong information
  • Evidence about the noose is inconsistent
  • Prison video systems appear to have been altered or misrepresented

Because of this, he concludes that: The official suicide narrative is unreliable, and there are strong indications of a cover-up.

Clinical and forensic psychologist, "Dr. G", on his YouTube channel "Dr. G Explains", posted the following video analysing handwritten notes found in Epstein's cell at the time of his death that Dr. G believes could be coded escape plan(s):

Note

Dr. Michael Baden, forensic pathologist hired by the Epstein family, stated the hyoid bone fracture and other injuries were more consistent with homicidal strangulation. The NYC Medical Examiner maintained the suicide ruling.

Note

Both guards (Noel and Thomas) were charged in November 2019. They admitted to sleeping and falsifying records. Charges were dropped in 2021 via deferred prosecution agreements requiring community service.

Video posted by Lauren the Mortician on her YouTube channel with her thoughts on Epstein's autopsy photos that have been released. Summary below.

  1. Lauren examines the close-up photos of Epstein's neck in autopsy photos shared by Mark Epstein on Megyn Kelly’s podcast.

  2. Timeline and Custody Failures

  • The video highlights several procedural issues before Epstein’s death:
  • July 2019: Arrested and jailed at MCC Manhattan.
  • July 23: Found injured with a bedsheet around his neck; placed on suicide watch.
  • One week later: Removed from watch but required to have a cellmate.
  • August 9: Cellmate leaves; no replacement assigned.
  • Night of death: Guards allegedly missed checks for ~8 hours.
  • Relevant hallway camera allegedly malfunctioned.
  • Lauren argues this combination of failures is highly unusual for a high-profile inmate.
  1. Next-of-Kin Notification Problems
  • Mark Epstein reportedly learned of the death from CNN, not from officials, which violates standard death-investigation protocol.
  • This added to the family’s suspicion.
  1. Michael Baden, an independent pathologist hired by Mark Epstein to observe the autopsy, reported:
  • Estimated time of death around 4:30 a.m., earlier than official discovery.
  • Three neck fractures (hyoid and thyroid cartilages), rare in suicide cases.
  • Whereas the official medical examiner said such fractures can occur in hanging or strangulation.
  • Result: Two experienced experts disagreed on interpretation.
  1. Ligature Mark Analysis
  • Lauren argues that most self-inflicted hanging cases, ligature marks slope upward toward the suspension point.
  • Epstein's mark appears unusually horizontal, layered (possible secondary compression line) and positioned around the mid-neck rather than angled upward.
  • This pattern looks unusual for a twisted bedsheet.
  • She says this raises questions about body positioning and mechanism.
  1. CPR and Ambulance Footage Concerns
  • Photos show CPR being performed and documented in the ambulance.
  • If Epstein had been dead for hours (as suggested by Baden), the body should have shown clear postmortem signs (e.g. skin cold to the touch, skin takes on a greyish mottled look instead of pink like live skin).
  • Lauren finds it unusual the guards not only attempted CPR but medics carried out prolonged resuscitation. Also, it is unusual for photographs to be taken during resuscitation attempts like those taken in the ambulance.
  • She questions whether Epstein was already clearly deceased when found. And if he was already deceased then why detailed crime scene photos were not taken of the position and condition of the body along with everything found at the scene. The lack of crime scene and autopsy photos released by the FBI/DOJ causes more confusion and doubt.
  1. Missing or Unusable Video Footage
  • The camera best positioned to record Epstein’s cell allegedly failed.
  • Other cameras worked, but not the crucial one.
  • The presenter argues that if the death were straightforward, video would settle doubts.
  1. Possibility of Re-Examination
  • Epstein was buried, not cremated.
  • Mark Epstein legally could request an exhumation and new autopsy.
  • The presenter wonders why this hasn’t happened, while acknowledging emotional and financial reasons.
  1. Why Public Suspicion Persists
  • Epstein had powerful connections.
  • Multiple “coincidences” occurred simultaneously.
  • Medical, procedural, and security issues overlap.
  • No definitive visual evidence exists.
  • This combination makes the official narrative feel “unfinished” to many people.
